About DPT

Driver Periodic Training has over 25 years experience of working with the Transport industry, helping both drivers and their companies achieve their goals – be it training for a NVQ or driver CPC  through to ISO9000 or developing new programmes.  We have helped companies achieve their goals throughout the country and the Middle East.

Initially we worked with JobCentre Plus on programmes training the long term unemployed back into work as private hire drivers, then on Train to Gain programmes to train existing drivers to a level 2 qualification.  We still work with various funders on upskilling the workforce on free training for eligible learners.

With the advent of the driver CPC training we branched out to cover LGV and PCV training.  We run the National Vocational Training programme (NVT) where new drivers to the industry having difficulty achieving Part 2 and Part 4 of their Vocational Licence are able to drive commercially for up to a year before they have to take Part 2 and 4.

We are one of only 7 accredited training providers with People 1st, the leading skills and workforce development charity for employers in the hospitality, tourism, leisure, travel, passenger transport and retail industries (the old Sector Skills Council),    In addition, we are able to help many drivers who may have problems exchanging EU licences to UK licences, uploading CPC on an EU licence and obtaining digital tacho cards with an EU licence.

Our Disability Awareness Course for the Passenger Transport Industry, recently achieved the coveted People 1st Quality Mark for meeting the much needed requirements for the industry

DPT is also recognised with Qualsafe Awards for the delivery of 3 day and 1 day First Aid, Manual Handling and Health and Safety qualifications and Edexcel for the range of Transport related BTEC and NVQ qualifications as well as Management, PTLLS Training, Assessor and IV qualifications

When Transport for London introduced the new Topographical Assessments for Private Hire drivers, we were the first centre to be approved.  We also offer training for the assessments and have one of the highest pass rates in the industry.  To meet the needs of all London Private Hire drivers having to demonstrate the ability to Speak, Listen, Read and Write English at a Trinity College level B1, we have now become an approved Trinity College centre to deliver the B1 SELT Preparation Course.

In order to work in the Construction Industry, everyone now needs to have a CSCS card to demonstrate that they have been trained in Construction related Health & Safety.  We are able to help you get your green card and also offer the BTEC Level 1 – Health and Safety in a Construction Environment
